ISC Partner in EU «Step to Sustainability» Project

ISC-Forschungsprojekt Step to SustainabilityISC is participating in a European research project entitled «Step to Sustainability» which aims to introduce greater sustainability into footwear production.

The goal is to develop a qualification permitting employees of companies of the European leather and footwear industry to train and qualify as specialists for the implementation of sustainable production methods.

The teaching modules will be presented partly in e-learning sessions and partly in compulsory attendance seminars. It is planned to offer this qualification in nine languages.

The project started in January 2014 and will continue until 31 March 2016.

 «S2S» is the short title of a Leonardo Project in which ISC is participating

Save the date: HDS | L-Symposium on 21 MayHDS|L-Logo

The Federal Association of the German Footwear and Leather Goods Industry HDS|L will hold its general meeting and a Symposium on 21 May at ISC Germany (in German).

Michal Špaček Holds Workshop at APLF / MM&T

«Footwear Design and Production in Compliance with International Standards» was the title of a workshop held by ISC staff member Michal Špaček on 1 April in Hong Kong. 

This event constituted part of the general programme at APLF MM&T (Asia Pacific Leather Fair / Materials, Manufacturing & Technology).

Some 50 participants attended the three-hour-plus workshop where they had the opportunity to ask detailed questions.
 

The workshop offered a concentrated package of practical tips for
greater efficiency in production, improved quality, and fewer customer complaints

Craftsperson for Footwear Manufacturing

Industriemeister/innen SchuhfertigungThirteen newly qualified master craftswomen and craftsmen for footwear manufacturing were awarded their certificates at Pirmasens on 28 March.

Their employers are Gabor, Solor Schuhforschung, adidas, Haix, Peter Kaiser, Semler, Lloyd and Lorenz Shoes. Hence seven German and one Austrian shoe manufacturers confirmed their commitment to this training course. 

In response to repeated requests from the industry, the training course was revived after a lapse of almost ten year by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and ISC Germany. There are plans to offer a new course in 2015.

How does a pattern become a shoe? The seminar is intended for persons needing a basic knowledge of pattern making for their work.
